On 13 March 2021, an IED targeted the convoy of a general in the 5th brigade of the presidential guard, who is also, according to one source, a leader in Al Islah Party, as it was passing through west of Taizz (Taizz), coded in Mudhaffar district (Taizz). The explosion injured the general and killed 8 of his companions and injured others.
