On 14 February 2021, Turkish army forces conducted airstrikes in Sikeftiyan area, Sehit Berxwedan and Sehit Baran hills (Kurdish names) in Gare Mountain (Chiya-e Gara) region of Dahuk. Dozens of nomad villages in the area were reportedly destroyed due to the bombings. Turkish sources claimed 3 PKK militants were killed or injured in the drone strikes conducted in Gare region, but PKK confirmed only one PKK fatality in the airstrikes targeting Sikeftiyan area.
