A military bomb disposal team has carried out a controlled explosion on a beach in Scotland. Seamill beach in Ayrshire has been closed since lunchtime on Tuesday after a member of the public reported a sighting of a cylindrical object. The coastguard confirmed a bomb disposal team from Edinburgh was sent to the scene and carried out a controlled explosion on the object later that day. The beach has since reopened to the public. Members of the coastguard had to cordon off the affected area while the local council provided sandbags to manage the explosion. A Police Scotland spokesman told the Daily Record: "Around 12.05pm on Tuesday, 9 March, 2021, police were informed of a suspected explosive object found on the beach at Seamill.
