On 9 March 2021, airstrikes by an unidentified air force destroyed 2 IS hideouts in the Hud al Mayta and Al Sabihat area near the Al Azim River on the provincial border area between Diyala and Sala Ad-Din Provinces. The airstrikes were in support of a Popular Mobilization Forces operation. The size of material and human losses sustained by IS unknown. Coded as provincial capital of Diyala, Baquba city.
