On 27 March 2021, Al Shabaab militants threw a hand grenade at government security forces (SNA) at a checkpoint in Buulo Shiikh village (Jowhar, Middle Shabelle). Al Shabaab claimed killing the deputy SNA commander for Hirshabelle state.
