On 28 March 2021, the chief provincial prosecutor of the intelligence agency and a policeman were killed, and 8 other officers were wounded, in a car bomb attack in the city of Lashkargah, Helmand. The individual had been the head of counter crimes wing of the Helmand police headquarters.
