On 1 April 2021, 3 civilians were wounded in an explosion of an IED planted by unidentified assailants near a Catholic church and a police outpost in Cotabato City (Maguindanao, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao). A Maundy Thursday Mass was taking place at the church when the IED exploded. The target of the attack was not clear.
