On 26 February 2021, an Israeli-owned cargo ship flying under the Bahamian flag was damaged in what was variously reported as either a rocket attack or mine explosion in the Gulf of Oman, near the strait of Hormoz. There were no reported fatalities nor serious damage to the ship. Israeli authorities placed responsibility for the explosion on Iran. There was no immediate comment from Iranian officials.
