On 25 February 2021, US warplanes operating under the Global Coalition carried out airstrikes targeting 11 positions of the PMF's Imam Ali Brigades and Iraqi Kataib Hezbollah in Al-Bukamal border crossing with Iraq in Deir-ez-Zor. The airstrikes killed at least 22 members of the groups and destroyed structures weapons shipments.
