On 10 October 2020, a landmine planted by an unidentified armed group, most likely the Islamic State or the Egyptian military forces, detonated and killed a woman and her daughter in Al Janayan village of Bir Al-Abd (Bir Al-Abd, North Sinai). Two other women were also killed the same day in another village in Bir Al-Abd. They were among the internally displaced people who had just returned to their houses in areas under ISIS's control.
