A dog owner was left shocked when his 'dopey' French bulldog dug up a Second World War shell on the beach. Gary Wells, 37, said that Gus, four, is never usually interested in digging holes or picking up sticks, so he was surprised when he started scrambling in the sand on Studland beach, Dorset. He was then left even more stunned when he realised the dog had uncovered an unexploded ordnance and immediately called the emergency services.
