Security Forces (SFs) were targeted on January 16 at a place between Surkhin and Nechara areas in Kalat District of Balochistan, where a bomb explosion was followed by an armed assault by unidentified terrorists, reports The Balochistan Post. The attack took place when the SFs were reportedly on foot patrol. A bomb detonated during their advance, and attackers lying in wait opened fire with heavy weapons. Local sources said the attack caused casualties among the SFs. However, no official statement has been issued by military authorities, and no insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
