Security Forces (SFs) on December 26, launched a large-scale military operation in the Dasht tehsil (revenue unit) of Kech District in Balochistan following the improvised explosive device (IED) attack on the military convoy in Zareen Bagh area on December 25, in which two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed while four other personnel sustained injuries, reports The Balochistan Post. The convoy was reportedly providing security to members of the Qatari royal family, who are visiting Balochistan for a hunting expedition involving rare birds. In a media statement, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) ‘spokesperson’ Jeeyand Baloch claimed responsibility for the IED attack. The operation began in the remote area located between Kech and Gwadar Districts. Gunship helicopters are reportedly involved, and Army troops encircled Sholeeg and adjoining areas near Siyahji.
