A series of Pakistani airstrikes on the Barmal District of Paktika Province on December 24, resulted in the death of at least 15 people, including women and children, with the toll expected to rise, reports The Hindustan Times. Pakistan conducted airstrikes on suspected Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) hideouts in Afghanistan, resulting in civilian casualties and escalating regional tensions. TTP camps in the Murgha and Laman areas of Barmal District were targeted, including one that was used by Sher Zaman alias Mukhlis Yar, Commander Abu Hamza, Commander Akhtar Muhammad and the head of TTP’s media wing, Umar Media, reports Dawn. The Taliban has vowed retaliation, claiming the attacks violated their sovereignty.
