According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a suspected cadre of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was killed and several others injured, in a gunfire exchange with Bangladesh Army personnel in Naniarchar zone in Rangamati District of Chittagong Division on January 2, reports The Daily Star. During the search, Army recovered an M-16 assault rifle, two rounds of MG/sniper ammunition, 90 rounds of rifle ammunition, a walkie-talkie, 12 mobile phones, and other equipment. UPDF ‘spokesperson’ Angya Marma told that the person killed is not a cadre of the outfit and the name of the outfit is being falsely linked to incite internal conflict.
