On 19 December 2024, in Chaung-U town (Monywa district, Sagaing region), the Burma Liberation Democratic Front (BLDF) carried out a remote mine attack against a military convoy of over 60 vehicles. The convoy was carrying copper and associated materials from the Wanbao copper project along the Monywa-Mandalay road. The BLDF claimed that six vehicles in the convoy were carrying approximately 200 youths conscripted into the military. Two vehicles were destroyed in the attack. Casualties unknown.
