On 19 December 2024, IEDs suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram (JAS) triggered and injured three siblings when they stepped on it while going to their farm along Bassa- Gwadara road, location coded to the closest populated area, Bassa (Shiroro, Niger). Another IED exploded when a motorcyclist was conveying rescuers to the scene of the first explosion, killing the motorcyclist and injuring one of the rescuers, coded separately.
