On 6 January 2025, near Maicao municipality (La Guajira), unidentified perpetrators detonated an explosive device on the Cerrejon coal train railroad at kilometer 51. The blast caused no injuries and only damaged the railway. The same railway was targeted in another explosive attack on 25 December 2024 (coded separately). The reasons or the perpetrators behind the explosion are unknown. There were no casualties.
