Air Delivered event in Iraq on Tue 7th January 2025

On 7 January 2025, Iraqi army warplanes conducted airstrikes targeting ISIL militants in the eastern part of Hamrin Mountains - Kirkuk (Salah Al Din), based on intelligence information from the Counter-Terrorism Service and in coordination with the Joint Operations Command and the technical information support from the Global Coalition. On 8 January 2025 the security forces started a combing operation from three axes in the area to document the results of the airstrikes. An unknown number of hideouts and caves in which ISIL militants used to hide were destroyed. 6 ISIL militants were killed including Abu Ubaida, the former vice governor of Kirkuk ISIL province. The security forces also seized weapons and ammunition (including: 2 M16s, 2 hand grenades, an explosive belt, 4 ammunition magazines, 6 mobile phones and logistics equipment) during the combing operation. 6 fatalities.
