DU’s LSR, 14 others get bomb hoax threat calls More than 15 educational institutions including Lady Shri Ram College across the national Capital received bomb threats, which later turned out to be hoaxes. Since May last year, more than 100 schools have been receiving bomb threats through mails. According to the police on Wednesday, more than 15 schools including Bal Bharati Public School in Ganga Ram, Laxman Public School in Hauz Khas, Fr. Agnel School in Gauta Nagar, Bluebells School in Kailash, Modern School in Vasant Vihar, Amity School in Saket, Salwan Public School in Mayur Vihar, G D Goenka school, Spring Bell Nursery School in West Patel Nagar, Tagore international in Amar Colony and Delhi Public School in East of kailash among others.

According to police sources, the mail was received from an e-mail id '[email protected]'. The content of the mail mentioned that since exams are going on in the schools, this will be the best time to strike and create maximum damage.

 The mail was received around 10:15 am, a senior police officer said, adding that after thorough checking it turned out to be hoax.

"We received two different bomb threat calls from Lady Shri Ram College at 11.40 am. Another bomb threat call was received from Tagore International School in the East of Kailash area at 11.17 am," an official said.

He said teams were immediately rushed to the site, but nothing suspicious was found. A dog squad and bomb disposal squad were part of the teams rushed to the spot, a police officer said.

Since May last year, over 50 bomb threat emails have targeted not only schools but also hospitals, airports and airline companies in Delhi, but the police have yet to make any breakthroughs in these cases.

The Delhi Police has been unable to crack the cases due to VPNs (Virtual Private Network) and proxy servers which acted as key barriers in solving cases and legal frameworks for obtaining information from these services are inadequate, leading to delays in investigations.

According to senior officials, the Delhi Police have written to service providers like Google, VK (known as Mail.Ru), and Outlook.Com to obtain the IP addresses of the senders.

"Our investigation is underway. We are working to trace the origin of the sender. While their servers or domains have been traced to European or Middle Eastern countries, the actual origin remains unconfirmed, as the emails were sent using VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) or proxy servers," an officer said, adding that a dedicated unit of the Delhi Police Special Cell has been tasked with investigating the threat cases.
