WALLACE, NC (WWAY) — A magnet fisherman called police after finding a potential explosive device found at the Rockfish Creek Bridge.

Police closed down the road and x-rayed the device but when it did not yield conclusive results a bomb squad was called to come and perform a controlled demolition.

The fire department adds the object was an old item and there was never an intentional threat to anyone.
