SAA event in Mexico on Mon 6th January 2025

León, Guanajuato. January 5, 2025. In the early hours of this Sunday, the León Police seized two firearms in response to a report of an armed attack in Paseos del Molino.

Citizens reported in an emergency call that an assault had been registered on Molino de Dolores Street, corner with Molino de Guanajuato Street, in the Paseos del Molino neighborhood, where two men were injured by firearm projectiles.

When the police unit arrived, they found the first injured person (Jose, 21 years old) inside a house, with several gunshot wounds. He was treated by paramedics and taken to receive medical attention.

Police officers inspected the scene and located:

A black handgun, which was found in the bathroom of the building, inside a toilet.

Shortly after, a second report alerted about another injured person who apparently was at the same address. The police unit located the other injured person (José, 27 years old), who was also wounded by gunshots. He was assessed by paramedics and later transferred for medical attention.

In the vicinity of the Paseos del Molino neighborhood, on Molino de Silao Street, a long weapon was found abandoned on the public road, apparently related to the same incident.

According to eyewitnesses, several men aboard two vans were allegedly responsible for the attack and fled after firing the shots.

The seized items were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General's Office for the corresponding investigations.

The Secretariat of Security, Prevention and Citizen Protection of León maintains the commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner with state and federal authorities to clarify these types of events and guarantee the safety of all.
