In a bid to sustain the fight against kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities during the festive season, the Nigeria Police Force has rescued 13 kidnapped victims, arrested 5 armed robbery suspects, and recovered firearms and ammunition across different states.The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, stated that the recent successes were a result of intensified and strategic operations aimed at curbing insecurity nationwide.“Over the past week, coordinated operations were carried out in Lagos and Kwara States, leading to the rescue of 13 kidnapped victims and the arrest of armed robbery suspects,” Adejobi said.On December 27, 2024, operatives attached to the Kwara State Command stormed a kidnappers’ hideout in Idofin-Igbana, following a distress call regarding the abduction of 13 persons. Despite resistance from the kidnappers, the operatives successfully overpowered them, causing the criminals to flee with injuries and ensuring the safe rescue of all victims.In Lagos State, on December 28, 2024, following a report of a disturbance at Pinnacle Depot, Lekki, police operatives apprehended Lawan Mustapha (38) and Aina Daniel (38). A thorough search led to the recovery of one double-barrel rifle, 90 live cartridges, and five model rifles. The suspects remain in custody pending further investigation and prosecution.Later that day, at approximately 12:45 PM, three suspected armed robbers were arrested in GRA, Ikeja. A search uncovered one locally made pistol, four live cartridges, and two cutlasses. The suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution after the investigation concludes.The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to ensuring safety and security across Nigeria. He emphasized the continuous deployment of resources and strategies to combat criminal activities effectively.“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to create a safer environment for all Nigerians,” the IGP stated.The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible information that can assist in tackling crime.
