On 6 December 2024, near Pan Hpe Chaung village (Kyauktaw township, Mrauk-U district, Rakhine state), a landmine exploded and killed a 24-year-old man when he stepped on it planted by the Myanmar military troops near the old LIB-539 compound around 10 am while collecting firewood and food. He lost his right leg due to the explosion and died on his way to a hospital.
