On 8 December 2024, as part of escort of food supplies convoy, Burkinabe forces struck several IED likely planted JNIM militants between Namssiguia (Bourzanga, Bam) and Mentao (Pobe-Mengao, Soum). JNIM claimed to have targeted a Burkinabe army patrol with a series of IED between Namssiguia and Djibo. The explosions resulted in human and equipment losses, the statement claimed. Unknown fatalities coded to 3. JNIM also displayed on photographs the scene of the IED attacks.
