On 11 December 2024, an IS suicide bomber killed Taliban's Refugee Minister and six others inside the ministry in Kabul city. The bomber had waited for the minister until he was leaving his office to carry the attack. The minister was a prominent figure of the Haqqani network. Some local sources claimed the attacker was transported to the vicinity of the ministry in a Ranger vehicle which belonged to the Taliban's Ministry of Interior. Fatalities coded as 8 to include the attacker.
