On 11 December 2024, Iraqi army F-16s conducted airstrikes targeting a hideout of ISIL militants after monitoring the movements of ISIL detachment near Al Fashika village in Shay Valley (location unknown, coded as Shay Valley, Kirkuk). On the next day, joint security forces conducted a security operation from two axis in the area to comb the area looking for hideouts and to determine the number of fatalities. A prominent local ISIL leader (Abu Muthanna) was killed in the airstrikes and the hideout was destroyed along with hidden weapons, ammunition and logistical materials. 1 fatality.
