Air Delivered
Air Delivered event in Lebanon on Tue 26th November 2024
26th November 2024
On 26 November 2024, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes targeting the border crossing between Lebanon and Syria in Aarida (Akkar, Akkar). The crossing was destroyed and two of its floors collapsed. Dozens of vehicles in the vicinity of the Public Security center were destroyed or damaged. Also homes in Aarida were damaged as well as fishing boats in the local port in Nahr Al Kabir River. 12 individuals were injured during the strike including administrative and military personnel as well as members of the General Directorate of Public Security, some of them critically. The injured were transferred to nearby hospitals. As a result of the strike as well as strikes targeting two other remaining border crossings with Syria in Akkar province (three airstrikes coded as three separate events), all the legal border crossings in the north and the bridges linking Lebanon and Syria were destroyed and the land traffic was thus stopped. A temporary alternative road in Aarida is under construction until destroyed bridges were rebuilt. 12 injured. There were no fatalities. This event is part of what the Israeli army called its 'new phase' of its war on Gaza, amid hostilities against Hezbollah.
