Missile event in Zhytomyr, Ukraine on Wed 4th December 2024

In Zhytomyr Oblast, police explosives officers neutralized the unexploded warhead of a Russian missile.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zhytomyr Region reported this  .

"Recently, the experts of the explosives service of the GUNP in the region discovered the warhead of the Kh-101 rocket , which fell in a field near one of the populated areas of the region and did not detonate," the report says.

It is noted that for the sake of safety, residents of the surrounding villages were temporarily evacuated.

In order to minimize the force of the explosion and avoid the scattering of debris, the dangerous part of the rocket was placed in a pit and covered with soil. After that, it was destroyed by controlled detonation. Explosive technicians examined the formed funnel and stated that there were no dangerous parts left and there was no threat to people.

The police reminded that it is strictly forbidden to touch or independently move suspicious objects or ammunition, parts of missiles, shells, bombs, UAVs, etc. If you find them, it is necessary to move to a safe distance the same way you came, and report the discovery to the police or rescuers.
