Unknown event in Odisha, Jineliguda Forest area near MV-79 village, Malkangiri District area, India on Wed 20th November 2024

A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed and a Policeman was injured during an encounter between Security Forces (SFs) and the rebels in Jineliguda Forest area near MV-79 village in Malkangiri District of Odisha on November 20, reports latestly.com. After receiving intelligence reports that a group of Maoists from adjoining Chhattisgarh were trying to enter Odisha by crossing the Saberi River, the security personnel had started a combing operation in the area. When the SFs located the Maoists, the ultras opened fire at the security personnel, and in the ensuing encounter, one Maoist was killed while SF trooper Damaru Badanaik sustained injuries. Two Maoists were also arrested during the operation, a senior officer said. The slain Maoist is yet to be identified, the officer added.
