Five cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were killed during an encounter between the Security Forces (SFs) comprising personnel of the District Reserve Guards (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and Border Security Force (BSF) and the Maoists in the Abujhmaad Forest area in Narayanpur District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on November 16, reports prameyanews.com. The gunfight erupted around 6 a.m. after security personnel launched a joint search operation based on intelligence reports of Maoist presence in the area. The team of security personnel came under heavy fire, triggering a five-hour-long battle. During the exchange of fire, two security personnel sustained injuries. SFs recovered the bodies of five Maoists along with weapons, including an INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifle and a self-loading rifle (SLR) rifle. The identities of the slain Maoists are yet to be ascertained. Earlier, SATP had reported the killing of four Maoists in the encounter, which is being updated to the killing of five Maoists in the encounter.
