SAA event in Mali on Mon 25th November 2024

#Mali 🇲🇱 | At around 4pm on 25/11, in Somadougou (Mopti, south of Sevaré), Dogon country was the target of one of the most violent coordinated attacks in recent months by the terrorists of the Macina Katiba (JNIM). The toll was heavy, but it could have been appalling had it not been for the intervention of the Dan Na Ambassagou militia, who managed to repel the terrorists. 🔴 13 people were killed, most of them dozo hunters. Dozens were wounded. 🔹 Weakened in several regions of Mali such as #Kayes, #Koulikoro and #Ségou, the Macina Katiba wants to reassert its authority in the Mopti region and particularly in the Dogon Country where it is particularly well established. 🔸Even the authority of the Katiba Macina has been undermined within the #JNIM, of which it was the most dense, violent and equipped armed group. That role is now occupied by the Hanifa Katiba operating in eastern #Burkina 🇧🇫 on the border with #Niger 🇳🇪. ⚠️ In a recent video, Katiba Macina spokesman Sheikh Mahmoud Barry threatened to step up the fighting and that the terrorist group would enter a second phase of its war with ESA countries and their populations (📷 below).
