On 8 November 2024, in Kar La village (Pekon township, Taunggyi district, Shan-South state), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes and dropped four bombs on the village at 11:30 pm without an armed clash occurring. A 35-year-old male IDP and a 40-year-old female IDP from Nawng Thein village were killed, and about 10 others sustained minor injuries.
