On 7 November 2024, an Israeli drone struck a car with several missiles at an LAF checkpoint in Sidon city (Sayda, South). The strike coincided with the passing of a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) bus through the checkpoint. Three Lebanese civilians were killed and three LAF officers and six UNIFIL personnel were injured in the attack. This event is part of what the Israeli army called its 'new phase' of its war on Gaza, amid hostilities against Hezbollah.
