The Mayor of the city of Baliseyh (Kirikkale Province) and his driver were killed on Monday in an armed attack, said the governor of the central Turkish district, Mehmet Makas, quoted by CNN Turk TV.

Three more people were injured in the attack.

The Baliseyh Mayor Hilmi Sen (50 years old) was seriously wounded in the shooting and died a little later from his wounds. Sen's driver, Mikail Celikkol, was also killed in the armed attack. Three more people were injured in the attack, the Anadolu Agency said.

The alleged perpetrator of the armed attack who is a relative of the Mayor was detained by the police, Anadolu Agency also reported

The motives for the crime are not yet known.
