IED event in Pakistan on Sat 26th October 2024

On 26 October 2024, a TTP-HGB militant travelling in a rickshaw carried out a suicide bombing at a joint military and police checkpoint in Idak area (North Waziristan, KPK). The attack resulted in the deaths of nine individuals, including the bomber, two civilians, and six security personnel- four police officers and two military personnel. Several vehicles were also damaged. While some sources reported that additional armed TTP-HGB militants exchanged fire with security forces following the explosion, mainstream sources confirmed that no other militants were involved after the initial attack. Recently, TTP-HGB militants had attempted to conduct an IED attack when the bomb prematurely exploded and killed the militant on 25 October 2024 (coded separately). Following the attack, TTP-HGB released a statement identifying the suicide bomber involved in the attack. 9 fatalities coded.
