Air Delivered event in Iraq on Mon 28th October 2024

On 28 October 2024, Iraqi army F16s conducted four airstrikes targeting hideouts of ISIL militants (caves) in the area of Hamrin Mountains - Kirkuk (Salah Al Din), killing 8 militants, including local ISIL leaders. Strikes came after the Military Intelligence had gathered information about the hideout. The next day security forces (special forces with detachments from the Kirkuk Intelligence Directorate) started a combing operation from two axes in the area in order to find out the number and identities of ISIL militants killed in the strike. They recovered 8 bodies, seizing also weapons, ammunition, explosive materials, logistical materials and communication devices from the hideout. Also, EOD teams (11th Division) started combing roads in the vicinity anticipating planted explosive devices. The combing operation had technical and air support from the Global Coalition. 8 fatalities.
