As many as 19 cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), three of them carrying bounty, were arrested by the Security Forces (SFs) in separate operations in Sukma District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, reports indiatvnews.com on October 29. Joint teams of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), 219th and 150th battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and 201st battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action—an elite unit of CRPF) were involved in the operations. 14 Maoists were arrested in Tumalpad area under Jagargunda Police Station area in the Sukma District on October 27, an official said. Police recovered 300 grams of gun powder, three pieces of Tiger cracker bomb, two matchboxes, three gelatin rods, 2.50 meters of codex wire, six pencil cells, three detonators, and four meters of electric wire from the arrested 14 cadres. “Of the 14 men [cadres], aged between 18 to 40 years, held in Jagargunda, three carried a bounty of Rs 1 lakh [INR 100,000] each. The trio included Barse Hadma (25), a ‘militia [people’s army of the Maoists] commander’, and Barse Nagesh (20) and Hemla Jitu (18), who were working with CNM (Chetna Natya Mandli, a frontal wing of Maoists),” the Police said. The rest 11 Maoists are identified as Barse Hinga, Hemla Mangadu, Barse Joga, Madkam Rakesh, Barse Mangdu, Barse Hinga, Madvi Hadma, Madkam Aitu, Madkam Hinga, Madvi Nanda, and Barse Deva. Similarly, five cadres, allegedly involved in the murders of a villager in Bhandarpadar in September and an electrician engaged in laying a power transmission line in the same village in February this year, were arrested from Bhandarpadar Forest area under Bhejji Police Station limits in the Sukma District on October 27. The arrestees, identified as Vanjam Aayata, Podiyam Kosa, Sodi Aayata, Sodi Hadma, and Podiyam Pojja, were active in the outlawed outfit for eight to ten years, Police added.|Five cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), including a female Maoist on whom a reward of INR 500,000 was announced, surrendered in Bijapur District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on October 29, reports naidunia.com. Police officials said that the surrendered Maoists include Sushila alias Bujji alias Vimala Hemla, Sukhram Modiyam, Suddu Korsa, Lakku Farsa, and Sannu Madvi. All of them have been involved in serious criminal activities like murder, attacking the Police, planting spike holes, digging roads, and using lethal weapons like Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) for a long time. According to the Police, the surrendered Maoists were associated with the Aheri Area Committee of Gadchiroli Division and the West Bastar Division Party. Some of these Maoists were working as ‘Platoon A’ ‘Section Commander’ of Bandepara Revolutionary People's Committee (RPC) ‘Militia’ (people’s army of the Maoists) and Bodlapusanar GRD (Grama Rakshaka Dalam) ‘Commander’.
