A senior cadre of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) of the ‘Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division’ was killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) at Sesar-Adangi Forest under Baliguda Police Station limits in Kandhamal District of Odisha on October 25, reports The New Indian Express. During search, the SFs recovered the body of a male Maoist cadre, who was found in uniform and equipped with an AK-47 rifle. While the identity of the Maoist is yet to be ascertained, the uniform he was wearing at the time of the encounter suggests he could be a senior member of the banned outfit. Sources said since the last few days, members of ‘KKBN’ are reportedly camping in the forest near Sesar, Dasungia, Aternji, Madanga, and Adangi villages. “A small group of Maoists opened fire on the SOG [Special Operation Group] teams. As the SOG personnel retaliated, an unidentified Maoist was killed,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Southern Range, Sarthak Sarangi, said.
