On 19 October 2024, near Nga Pyayt Ka Naing village (Hopong township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, Shan-South state), a 45-year-old man from Yae Hpyu village stepped on a mine planted by an unidentified armed group while he was heading to the forest to cut bamboo at around 12 pm. He lost one of his legs and sustained severe injuries.
