On 21 October 2024, suspected AQAP militants targeted with 1 IED a military vehicle belonging to STC forces in Wadi Awmran (Mudiyah, Abyan). The explosion killed one soldier and injured four others, including two civilians, as the vehicle was passing through a main road leading to Wadi Awmran, during ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
