On 21 October 2024, RSF anti-aircraft defense system (suspected missile system) shot down an unknown Il-76TD aircraft in Al Malha locality (location coded to locality capital Malha, North Darfur). The group also claimed that it was operated by at least 2 Russians and 3 SAF soldiers. Pro-SAF reports claimed it was Kyrgyzstan aircraft used by UAE on its way to drop reinforcements and it was shot down by mistake by the RSF. Some sources suspected that the aircraft crashed due to a technical failure, and others mentioned additional information, as it was owned by Egyptian company New Way Cargo Airlines based in Kyrgyzstan, one of it staff is an employee in Airline Transport Incorporation FZC company based in UAE, and it was bought by Sudan government in January 2024. At least 5 were killed.
