On 21 October 2024, overnight, an IED detonated at two local businesses that had installed CCTV cameras on a family park building and a garage in Mogadishu - Daynile (Afgooye, Lower Shabelle). The explosion destroyed the buildings. The motive of the attack is based on the recent installation of CCTV cameras at the shops. The Somali government required all businesses to install surveillance cameras in all their business places. Al Shabaab rejected this decision and started targeting shops with CCTV cameras. No injuries reported.
