A Houthi leader attacks a land inside the Ibb University campus, and academics denounce the armed robbery attempts. Local sources said that the Houthi leader "Ali bin Ali Al-Nu'ah", who was appointed by the militia as the governorate's deputy for financial affairs, began the attack process over the past two days, which was met with widespread rejection in academic and community circles. The media official at Ibb University, Ali Al-Omari, stated in a brief statement on his Facebook account on Thursday evening that the land of Ibb University was being attacked, threatening to issue a detailed statement at a later time. Informed sources reported that pressure was exerted on the leadership of Ibb University and succeeded in stopping the statement, amid an attempt to contain the ongoing crisis between the Houthi leader Ali Al-Nu'ah and the leadership of Ibb University. In a statement, academics denounced the attempts to seize the university's lands, which influential people are seeking to loot by force of arms, due to its distinguished location in the heart of the governorate, which is known for its high land prices that are not found in any other governorate, as the value of one reed (approximately 44 square meters) is more than 150 million riyals. The academics demanded the evacuation and handover of all lands and buildings located within the university campus, so that the university can complete the implementation of the master plan that includes all lands within the campus. This incident comes days after the Houthi militia attempted to seize investments belonging to the Shaab Ibb Sports Club, at a time when citizens’ lands and properties are being looted by Houthi leaders, most of whom were brought by the militia from governorates under its control in the north of the country.
