The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) on October 23 claimed responsibility for the attack on Levies personnel in the Nichari area of Kalat District on October 18, 2024, reports The Balochistan Post. One Levies personnel was killed and two other personnel sustained injuries when armed persons targeted a Levies post. According to a statement released by BLF ‘spokesperson’ Major Gohram Baloch, the incident occurred when BLF fighters encountered Levies personnel during a patrol. The BLF cadres disarmed the Levies personnel and confiscated their weapons before releasing them unharmed. Later that day, around 2:00 PM, the BLF cadres visited a Police checkpoint to warn the Levies personnel against obstructing the Baloch national movement and pursuing BLF cadres. The ‘spokesperson’ Major Gohram Baloch claimed that the Levies personnel attempted to attack the BLF cadres, who then took defensive positions for a counterattack. In the ensuing clash, Levies Sepoy Abdul Qayyum was killed, and sepoy Rehmatullah Nichari was injured. The BLF ‘spokesperson’ expressed regret over the loss of the Baloch lives and extended condolences to the families of the deceased and injured. He reiterated previous warnings to Baloch employees in the Police and Levies to avoid activities against the national movement.
