On 14 October 2024, AQAP militants fired an RPG rocket at a Shabwa Defense military vehicle in the Al Musayniah area (As Said, Shabwah). Some sources reported that AQAP targeted the vehicle with an IED instead. The explosion resulted in the death of the Chief of Staff of the 1st Shabwa Defense Brigade and left several others injured. AQAP media claimed responsibility for the attack and stated that it was carried out six months after a failed double assassination attempt on the Chief of Staff, during which one device caused only injury (coded separately). 1 fatality.
