On 14 October 2024, Iraqi army F16s supported by the intelligence and the Counter-Terrorism Service conducted two airstrikes in the Laylan area Kirkuk governorate, targeting a hideout and killing four IS militants. The Counter-Terrorism Service searched the area and found 4 bodies including a body of an important local leader of IS (the assistant to the military emir of Kirkuk province, Abu Saleh). The airstrikes destroyed also an unspecified number of weapons, communications equipment and other logistical materials. 4 fatalities.
