On 15 October 2024, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected Malay Muslim separatists went off next to the wall of the To Deng Subdistrict Protection Unit in Todeng village, To Deng, Su-Ngai Padi (Narathiwat), causing significant damage to the base and injured four members of the Volunteer Defense Corps. The separatists, using a motorcycle and a cart to conceal the bomb in a gas tank, fled the scene before the device detonated.
