On 15 October 2024, overnight, an IED planted by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting government security forces (SNA) in Waajid town (Waajid, Bakool). Security forces responded, arresting several individuals in connection with the incident and Al Shabaab claimed to have injured one soldier.
