On 15 October 2024, early hours of the morning, Israeli warplanes carried out two airstrikes all over the city and on the outskirts of Baalbek (Baalbek, Baalbek-Hermel), including one towards the southern entrance near the 'Qubbat Douris' archaeological site, and the Aassira neighborhood, which destroyed a building and caused significant material damage to the surrounding buildings, including Al-Murtada Hospital, which was put out of service. Another strike targeted the Ras al-Ain hills within the city. Casualties unknown. This event is part of what the Israeli army called its 'new phase' of its war on Gaza, amid hostilities against Hezbollah.
